Even in biblical times this plant was considered a miracle plant.
The more research on Aloe Vera is done, the more valuable properties are discovered.
Natures mystery in the Aloe Vera plant has caused a lot of research, which probably will never be fully completed.
Aloe Vera contains 18 of the 22 amino acids and 7 of the essential ones in its purest form. This is another elongated reason that makes Aloe Vera such an important nutritional element.
When the amino acids are considered, this explains why a number of factors affect the different functions in the body.
This includes the stimulation of the digestive and immune systems. Aloe Vera and cancer is a very interesting subject in Aloe Vera research.
There are two kinds of researches on the Aloe Vera subject.
• Empirical research. Everything your grandma told you on how and for what Aloe Vera is good for.
• Scientifically and clinical research.
Some results are really satisfying. While others need more research to be scientifically proven. The most valuable Aloe Vera research is received from real life testimonies, done under clinical supervision.
But there needs a lot of lab experiments to backup these testimonies. These researches are more credible than any test tube experiments in the lab.
Aloe Vera has been shown in published studies to lower cholesterol and reduce arthritis inflammation.
The Aloe Vera plant has a long history as a popular house-plant, and is used in the multi-purpose folk remedy. As a folk remedy there has been a lot of Aloe Vera research done.
The plant is separated into two basic products:
The gel is the mucilage part of the leaf which is a thin clear jellylike substance obtained from the parenchymal tissue that makes up the inner portion of the leaves. The gel contains carbohydrate polymers, such as glucomannans and pectic acid, plus various other organic and inorganic compounds.
In 1850 two scientist, Smith and Steinhouse were able to extract and identify a substance in its pure form, which they called Aloin. They thought this to be the pure part of the Aloe Vera.
Today it is known that the “Aloe Vera Latex” is a bitter yellow exudate from the pericyclic tubules just beneath the outer skin of the leaves. This is the drug part of the plant and the nutritional part is in the gel.
This latex is for pharmaceutical use only. As a laxative, the latex is often dried to produce “aloe granules” that are dark brown from exposure to air.
There are a lot of clinical researches done to rely on. Healing with Aloe Vera is a approach for many holistic health practitioners.
